Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - George Alexander "Big" Skinner, Jr. died at home surrounded by family on Sept. 25, 2007. He was 77 years of age.
Big was born June 20, 1930, in Washington, D.C. He had just recently celebrated his wedding anniversary of 50 years to his devoted wife, Ann Lee Skinner.
He is survived by Ann; by his son, Sonny Skinner, of Houston, Texas; by his son, David Lee Skinner, of Surry, Va.; by his sister, Janice Skinner Hurst, of Newport News. He will be sadly missed by his little dog "Angel".
Big worked at Fort Eustis in the 1950s until it was privatized in 1983, then continued with Northrop as a helicopter inspector and Supervisor until retiring in 1995.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home , 7415 River Road in Newport News.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.
Arrangements are being handled by Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home.
